My earliest memories of art are drawing trees with a charcoal stick. Pastels and acrylics were next. I hated watercolours. Years after graduating art college and working commercially, I took a watercolour workshop. It became clear: I needed a larger brush. Everything changed.
A decade passes, I take an oil painting class (kind of a stretch I know) the artist introduces me to painting with just primary colours and a limited number of secondaries, then demonstrates how it’s all about the impression of light. Haven’t quite mastered the oils, I am still holding out hope, but the colour theory and concept of light has captured me.
So here I am, not starting at the beginning more like somewhere in the middle... with painting I don’t think you ever reach the end.
